Why Patients Trust Our Acne Treatments

acne treatments

A large number of people experience acne when they are young, only to have the condition linger on into adulthood in the form of acne scars. These scars can have a lasting impact, leading to feelings of embarrassment and self-consciousness. If you are dealing with acne scars, you are probably seeking out treatment options to remove or reduce their prominence. The good news is that there are quite a few acne treatments available for this common skin problem.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is an acne treatment that uses microscopic abrasives on the surface of your skin for the treatment of light acne scars on the superficial layer of skin. It is safe and effective for all skin types and colors, leading to subtle changes that do not affect skin color. This treatment is not appropriate for deeper acne scars.

We begin microdermabrasion acne treatments by using a small device to spray microscopic crystals onto the treatment area. These crystals have an abrasive effect similar to a mild form of exfoliation. They remove the buildup of cellular debris present on the surface of your skin to help improve the appearance of minor acne scars. At the end of the treatment, we vacuum up the crystals and cellular debris with a hand piece.

Chemical Peels

Many people have had their acne scars removed or minimized with a chemical peel. We use a chemical solution to remove some of the outer skin layer affected by acne scars. Your body then replaces damaged skin tissue with newer skin tissue, and acne scars are reduced in appearance.

After your chemical peel treatment, avoid prolonged sun exposure because your skin will be more sensitive at this time. You should also use a good moisturizer, since hydrated skin is better protected against environmental impacts. Depending upon the type of peel you undergo, you may be given additional instructions to ensure the safety of your skin after your chemical peel procedure.
